Waiting For God Actively

I think it’s funny that this came up last for two reasons:  1. it’s just the perfect way to end this series, and 2. it just happens to be the day before Valentine’s Day which means I need to yell at the single women again LOL.  I swear I did not plan this, but this is the order I wrote them in TWO days ago lol 🙂  Anyhoo!

We all know what waiting actively is!  Waiting actively is how you should wait patiently.  Just because you’re trying to be patient doesn’t mean you sit around and try to keep a good disposition until it happens.  Waiting patiently needs that you need to move, act, occupy your time while you wait.  After all, it’s kinda hard to be patient if all you’re doing is sitting around trying NOT to think about the thing you’re trying to be patient about.  So, single women (and don’t forget I’m numbered with you!), while you’re waiting on Mr. Wonderful to come and sweep you off your feet…DO SOMETHING!  Enhance your own life some kind of way.  He doesn’t want some ol’ desperate, uneducated, clingy, “whatever you like,” broad that has no life and nothing going on!  Go to school!  Join a ministry!  Find a hobby!  Help some kids!  Exercise!  Go out with your friends!  Feed the homeless!  FIND SOMETHING TO DO!!!  Amen 🙂

II Peter 3:14 (NLT)

And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.

Jude 1:21 (MSG)

But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, staying right at the center of God’s love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life!

I hope you all have enjoyed this series!  More importantly I hope someone out there found it useful.  Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Happy Valentine’s day!

Waiting For God Eagerly

You know how it is when it’s Christmas Eve, the night before your birthday, 2:55 p.m. on the last day of school, or when the doctor comes out with your chart in his hand.  Wait for God like that!  What do these all have in common?  Great anticipation!  Excitement!  Waiting doesn’t always have to be a long, arduous task.  Sometimes waiting can be fun!  You know what you need to wait eagerly though?  Confidence.  When you wait eagerly you just KNOW that x is going to happen and you’re excited.  You can be terribly excited lacking confidence.  This one ties directly to expectancy, patience, and trust.

I Corinthians 1:7 (NLT)

Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Waiting For God Trustingly

I’m not sure if trustingly is even a word, but it is today!!  This one goes hand in hand with expectancy and patience.  Waiting trustingly implies that you expect (trust) that there will be an answer, and you wait for it patiently.  I don’t think I can make it more simple than that.  Especially since prayer–real prayer–involves a certain level of trust.  I would imagine that if you didn’t trust God (like before we got saved) then you wouldn’t pray at all.  Trust also implies a level of loyalty that will get results.  Trust God while you wait.

Lamentations 3:24 (CEV)

Deep in my heart I say,

“The LORD is all I need;

I can depend on him!

22-24 (MSG)

God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
his merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.
How great your faithfulness!
I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).
He’s all I’ve got left.

Micah 7:7 (CEV)

But I trust the LORD Godto save me,

and I will wait for him

to answer my prayer.

(MSG)

But me, I’m not giving up.
I’m sticking around to see what God will do.
I’m waiting for God to make things right.
I’m counting on God to listen to me.

Waiting For God Desperately

Psalm 38:9-16 (MSG)

Lord, my longings are sitting in plain sight,
my groans an old story to you.
My heart’s about to break;
I’m a burned-out case.
Cataracts blind me to God and good;
old friends avoid me like the plague.
My cousins never visit,
my neighbors stab me in the back.
My competitors blacken my name,
devoutly they pray for my ruin.
But I’m deaf and mute to it all,
ears shut, mouth shut.
I don’t hear a word they say,
don’t speak a word in response.
What I do, God, is wait for you,
wait for my Lord, my God—you will answer!
I wait and pray so they won’t laugh me off,
won’t smugly strut off when I stumble.

Does that sound desperate or what?!  There’s not much you won’t do when you’re desperate.  God wants that kind of reckless abandon type attitude while you’re waiting.  You have to be serious while waiting for Him, and desperation is truly a serious thing.  Unfortunately, most times desperation comes as a last resort.  What would happen if we’re always desperate for God while we wait?  In my opinion He’ll probably move a little faster when He see’s how serious you are about this thing!  I don’t know.  We should try it!

Check out more desperation:

Psalm 130:6 (CEV)

wait for you more eagerlythan a soldier on guard duty

waits for the dawn.

Yes, I wait more eagerly

than a soldier on guard duty

waits for the dawn.

Psalm 39:7, 8 (MSG)

What am I doing in the meantime, Lord?
Hoping, that’s what I’m doing—hoping
You’ll save me from a rebel life,
save me from the contempt of dunces.
I’ll say no more, I’ll shut my mouth,
since you, Lord, are behind all this.

Waiting For God Obediently

Ooooh, such a dirty word!  It will keep you in line though!  Sometimes when we pray God wants to prepare us for the answer, so He gives us some instructions for what to do while we wait.  One would think that since we asked God for answer that we’ll do whatever it take to get it right?  Wrong!  Sometimes He wants to show us that we’re either not ready, or we didn’t want it bad enough anyway by our disobedience.  So, be obedient in your waiting for God!

Psalm 37:34 (NLT)

Put your hope in the Lord.
Travel steadily along his path.
He will honor you by giving you the land.
You will see the wicked destroyed.

Isaiah 26:8 (NLT)

Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws;
our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.

Waiting For God Patiently

Need I say more?  lol, for real, this one explains itself.  One of those old songs says that you can’t hurry God!  It’s true because we’re not even in the same space and time as God.  We’re in totally different time zones LOL.  But you know what?  Waiting patiently has waaaay more to do than just not rushing.  When you wait patiently there is a certain attitude that you possess.  Have you ever seen people wait in a line, and although they’re not saying anything they’re rolling their eyes and tapping their feet?  True, they “waited,” but it was SO not patient.  Patience is more a condition of the heart than a physical thing to do.  For example, let’s take us single women.  Sorry y’all, but I’m calling us out!!  We all want to get married–NOW!  We  know we have to wait patiently for God to send someone, and we expect that one day He will.  So, we call ourselves creating a life for ourselves and getting involved in ministry because that’s what you should do while you’re waiting.  However, all the while we complain about being single, wish we could get married, and are constantly talking about it amongst ourselves.  You might just think you’re having a discussion, but expressing your dissatisfaction is a form of impatience!  If you believe that God is going to do something, then shut up and let the Man do it!  Sure, it’s natural to talk about what you want and stuff like that, but don’t wallow in it.  Focus on God!  Thank and praise Him in advance for what you’re expecting Him to do!  Spend time actually preparing yourself to receive whatever it is that you’re expecting.

Psalm 37:7 (CEV)

Be patient and trust the LORD.Don’t let it bother you

when all goes well for those

who do sinful things.

Psalm 130:5 (CEV)

With all my heart,I am waiting, LORD, for you!

I trust your promises.

Lamentations 3:26 (CEV)

It is good to wait patientlyfor the LORD to save us.

Waiting For God Fearlessly

Many of us tend to worry about things.  Some of us have things in our lives that make us afraid.  God knows all about our concerns, but He never intended for us to have fear in our lives.  So, because of that, we all know where fear comes from, right?  So, do pray about about whatever the situation is, but while you’re waiting for God to work it out do not be afraid!  Have confidence in your God.  Be courageous!  Courage is NOT the absence of fear, but feeling the fear and doing it anyway.

Psalm 27:14; 33:20

Wait patiently for the Lord.
Be brave and courageous.
Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

We wait in hope for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.
