Waiting For God Trustingly

I’m not sure if trustingly is even a word, but it is today!!  This one goes hand in hand with expectancy and patience.  Waiting trustingly implies that you expect (trust) that there will be an answer, and you wait for it patiently.  I don’t think I can make it more simple than that.  Especially since prayer–real prayer–involves a certain level of trust.  I would imagine that if you didn’t trust God (like before we got saved) then you wouldn’t pray at all.  Trust also implies a level of loyalty that will get results.  Trust God while you wait.

Lamentations 3:24 (CEV)

Deep in my heart I say,

“The LORD is all I need;

I can depend on him!

God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
his merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.

But I trust the LORD Godto save me,

and I will wait for him

to answer my prayer.

But me, I’m not giving up.
I’m sticking around to see what God will do.
I’m waiting for God to make things right.
I’m counting on God to listen to me.

Waiting For God Expectantly

It sounds silly to say, but when you think about it, we do it all the time.  What sense does it make to pray and ask for something without expecting Him to do it?  Furthermore, why should He do it if we don’t expect Him to?  That’s one thing I’ve learned about prayer over the years.  You must pray confidently and expect that your prayer(s) will be answered.  We see it all the time on TV when someone asks for something, they get it, but when it’s time to thank everyone they say stuff like, “Oh wow!  I didn’t really think that…”   While we are waiting we must expect an answer from God.  Expectancy implies confidence as we seen in

Micah 7:7:

As for me, I look to the Lord for help.

I wait confidently for God to save me,

and my God will certainly hear me.

I also like Psalm 38:15:

For I am waiting for you, O Lord.

You must answer for me, O Lord my God.

I know how some of you feel though.  You’ve been taught that you’re supposed to respect God and not demand anything from Him, and rightfully we should respect God.  However, if you ask a question, then shouldn’t you expect an answer?  Afterall, most of us don’t make a habit of asking random questions.  In prayer, sometimes you ask God a question:  “When will I get married?  Is it ok to date this person?  How am I going to get the money for x?  Are you listening to me??  Can you show me that you’re there?”  All valid questions that deserve an answer.  I don’t think the Lord will think we’re being rude and disrespectful if we expect Him to answer, right?  He’s probably think we were playing games if we didn’t!  Don’t be afraid to wait for God expectantly!
